Carve out your child's niche with these fun and foolproof ways to transform their bedroom. These projects give your child some room to grow, while also providing an easy way to turn any space into a kid-friendly environment. The best part is that children can help with some of these simple projects too.

Transform your child's bedroom with these fun and foolproof ideas:

Wow with a wall.  Achieve a wow factor by transforming a wall or two with easy-to-use wall graphics. Convey a positive message, display a cute motif, or pay homage to a favorite sports team. These graphics are much easier and cleaner to use than paint--just peel and stick.

Neutrals are nice. Speaking of paint, go with neutrals for a clean slate that is very versatile. Skip the pastels and keep things simple; a fresh neutral color scheme allows you to accent or adorn with prints, patterns, or pops of vibrant colors. Neutral tones are always age and gender appropriate.

Frame their bed. Create an ornate faux headboard with wall graphics or stickers; you can also create your own custom "headboard" using stencils and paint. This is a great way to get a bit more use out of a toddler bed too; use the bed as a bench in a room when outgrown by using wall graphics along the wall behind the bed to resemble a funky seat or sofa.

Give them a hideaway. Help your child make a teepee tent for their room; these little hideaways help hide toys and mess, which keeps the space looking tidier, too. These cool, rustic features can set the tone in your space, providing an organic and functional focal point. You will need three wood dowels, between three and four feet long, a large piece of fabric, and some string, rope, or elastic.

Some other teepee tent tips include the following:

  • A recycled round tablecloth is the perfect fabric to use with your wood dowels; simply make a cut from the center of the cloth to the edging, which will become the opening to your tent.
  • Don't have wood dowels? Repurpose mop or broom sticks, which happen to be the perfect size, and tie the tops together with twine or rope.
  • Position the tents on a carpeted or textured surface to help keep the tent poles stable.

Building a teepee tent is a fun and engaging project that might be the perfect way to entertain your child and their friends during rainy afternoons or a slumber party. Line the rounded floor of your tent with pillows, cushions, or blankets for lounging.

Bring in some scents. Bring a relaxing vibe to your child's restful place with aromatherapy; use a diffuser to gently waft a pleasing and light scent of lavender or chamomile into your children's room. Does your child have a sniffle? Diffuse some mint or eucalyptus instead. While your child may not be able to help with this one, it is an easy way to transform and alter the room's energy.
